Born in Geneva, he was literally surrounded by many of the world's leading experts and, thus, it was natural that his interest in timepieces and his entrepreneurial spirit would lead him to establish his own manufactory in 1995. The idea was to create watches based on tradition - but with an eye to the future. The original name was Sogem SA, changed later to Roger Dubuis. Among the company's special features: The Roger Dubuis Horloger Genevois has been granted the honor of carrying the famous coat of arms of the City of Geneva. This recognizes a manufacturer's compliance with the strict standards set forth in the seventeenth century; the mechanical movements of the watches have been assembled in the Canton of Geneva and strict technical requirements and standards are maintained. The sizes and shapes of the early creations from Dubuis led to great recognition in the watch industry; he developed his own calibers, the RD28 and RD98 mechanical movements.

Every Dubuis watch is created in a handmade, exclusive edition. Only 28 individually numbered pieces will ever be created of each model in each collection. The new RD29 movement has a new method of display that allows the week, date, and month to be viewed through a triple window at 12 o'clock. The leap year cycle is also shown through a window and the fifth window shows day and night.

Roger Dubuis nació en 1940, a orillas del lago Léman en Vevey, Suiza. A la vuelta del colegio pasaba largas horas en el taller de relojería del pueblo. Fascinado por el trabajo del hombre inclinado sobre la mesa, descubrió el oficio y aprendió de él sus secretos.

Desde ese momento, fascinado por el arte de la mecánica, Roger Dubuis sólo soñaba con ser relojero. Ingresó entonces en la Escuela de Relojería de Ginebra y obtuvo, tras cuatro brillantes años de estudio, su certificado de capacidad y su diploma de relojero. Algunos años más tarde, el artesano del taller de complicaciones de una de las más prestigiosas casas, solicitó sus servicios para la misma escuela que le había formado.

Consciente de la importancia de la transmisión del saber, el maestro relojero formaba y aconsejaba a los jóvenes diplomados.

Convertido en relojero independiente en 1980, Roger Dubuis se consagró a la restauración de relojes con complicaciones, pertenecientes a un gran número de coleccionistas privados. Apreciado por su saber hacer y su disponibilidad, era solicitado por casas de alta relojería para concebir nuevos mecanismos complicados.

Del encuentro con Carlos Dias nacieron la amistad y las ganas de crear su propia marca. Se impusieron entonces dos requisitos: cada uno de sus relojes debía ser galardonado con el Punzón de Ginebra y de un Boletín de Marcha proporcionado por un Observatorio de prestigio. El Punzón de Ginebra es la más alta recompensa que se puede conceder a un reloj, otorgada por el Consejo de Estado de la República y del Cantón de Ginebra.

Así la colección "Hommage et Sympathi", recubierta de oro viejo rosa, de paladio o de platino, está caracterizada tanto por sus líneas clásicas y sus acabados originales, como por su cualidades técnicas.
