General Math

Math is a subject that students either love or hate. Even Einstein reportedly had trouble with the subject! From arithmetic to calculus, math enables us to expand our minds and solve everyday problems easily.

Arithmetic

Arithmetic is the most basic form of mathematics, and it involves mathematical tasks such as counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing as well as the study of numerals, decimal place values, fractions, mean, progression, and others. It is also known as number theory, and it is widely practiced in everyday life.

Telling Time

Telling time is an important mathematical skill that enables people to read time. It entails the study of various units of time, such as seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, years, and others.

Measurement

Measurement is an important aspect of mathematics that involves the calculation of mass, distance, length, area, volume, temperature, and others. Students will learn how to identify and apply different measurement units and make calculations for different types of measurements.

Algebra

Algebra is a branch of math that makes use of known information to calculate unknown values. Letters are used to represent certain values, and they are used in combination with numbers to form an equation. Usually, students are required to find the value certain alphabets in an equation.

Geometry

Geometry is a form of mathematics that is concerned with the study of shapes, sizes, spaces, and the positioning of figures. Some of the common tasks that students of geometry have to perform include the calculations of diameters, circumferences, or areas of circles; the lengths of sides, angles, or areas of triangles; and the lengths, widths, and areas of squares and rectangles. Geometry also involves the study of three-dimensional figures as well as the use of algebra.

Probability and Statistics

Probability and statistics refer to the study of the likelihood of certain outcomes, based on the examination of relevant data. Students have to calculate averages and percentages, and present the analysis of data in the form of a graph.

Calculus

Calculus is a branch of math that involves the study of change. Students are required to understand the implications of functions, limits, integrals, derivatives, and infinite numbers, and use them in relation to one another to solve mathematical problems. Calculus is divided into two main branches, namely, differential calculus and integral calculus.

Discrete Mathematics

Discrete mathematics is focused on the study of structures that assume non-continuous values. It requires understanding of combinatorics, graphs, algorithms, computation, and others. This branch of mathematics is essential for computer science studies, and it has gained importance in recent years.
